Dr. Ssekabira B. Umaru is a medical doctor with a post graduate training in Clinical epidemiology and Biostatistics from Makerere University, Uganda. Dr. Ssekabira is currently Head of Training at the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI). He is primarily responsible for ensuring that IDI’s capacity building activities (trainings, coaching and mentorship) are of high quality and meet the needs of Ugandan and international health care workers. Prior to this assignment, Dr. Ssekabira worked as the project manager for the 4 year Joint Uganda Malaria Training Project of the Infectious Diseases Institute, Uganda Malaria Surveillance Project and the Ministry of Health. He also worked in Luwero district local government as an Assistant district Health Officer for three years where he acquired substantial experience in management of decentralized health services including working with communities and civil society organizations. Dr. Ssekabira has presented papers at both local and international conferences and has published two papers in international reputable journals.
